STILLWATER, Okla. ? Authorities continue to search for the person who threw a dog from an overpass last week. ?

The German shepherd named ?Rookie? is ?at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences at Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Mark Rochat said Rookie?s leg was shattered and they plan to perform surgery Tuesday.

?The fall that he took from that height, it is a wonder he actually wasn?t injured more serious than he was,? Dr. Rochat said.

Dr. Rochat said he expects Rookie to make a full recovery. ?

The dog will be able to go home later this week. ??

Dr. Rochat told News Channel 4 that the state trooper who found Rookie will keep him.

The Humane Society of the United States is ?offering up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

?Throwing a dog off a bridge into certain death is horribly cruel and also a serious crime in Oklahoma,? Cynthia Armstrong said, HSUS? Oklahoma state director. ?We hope our reward helps find the person or persons who committed this despicable act.?
