Food events: Westport Food Festival video, foraging at Powerscourt ...

An eclectic bunch of Mayo food producers, chefs, hotel and restaurant staff have created the first ever music video to promote the Westport Food Festival, which will take place from 21 to 23 September.

An adaptation of?Food, Glorious Food! from the musical Oliver!, the song is sung and performed by the ?stars? of the festival in a variety of famous Westport locations.

The cast includes: beekeepers;?chefs; a cheese maker; fish monger; baker; hummus and tapenade maker; barman; restaurant owner, hotel and marketing managers and waiting staff. Forming a thread throughout the performance are members of Westport?s historic town band including jazz musician and Westport legend Larry Hingerton (82) and six Westport children making their screen debut.

It was launched on Sunday along with the programme for the second Westport Food Festival and more information is available at?www.westportfoodfestival.ie.

It?s harvest time! Would you like to discover the art of foraging wild and edible foods such as wild flowers, herbs, walnuts, berries, mushrooms and garlic? Join Vincent Sheehy, a horticulture graduate who spent last summer working on S?ren Wiuff?s farm outside Copenhagen. Wiuff supplies Noma, rated the world?s best restaurant, with wild and cultivated ingredients. According to The Irish Times ?Sheehy can now spot chickweed and sorrel across a crowded field the way some people can spot designer labels.?

A Taste of Donegal Food Festival will place from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th August 2012 on The Pier in Donegal Town. The three day event is a celebration of great food, drink and lifestyle products.

Over the weekendthere will be cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs Gary O Hanlon, Neven Maguire, Kevin Dundon, Catherine Fulvio, Brian Mc Dermot, Joe Shannon, Martin Anderson, Maire Dufficy, Anthony Armstrong. There will be tutored beer tasting by Newstalk?s Dean Mc Guinness, wine appreciation by Dicey Reilly?s and The Wine Buff along with a masterclass from Sian Breslin of Siansplan.
